ABSTRACT

This research work seeks to verify Africa values as perishable values. Africa as a continent suffers from the inability to maintain some of her ideology and culture that are capable of bringing positive change and innovations in all ramifications of life.

This research reveals African theory and practices in action in the school setting. African traditional norms go with the slogan ‘Live and let live’ which embodies democratic principles.

Technocracy is a term coined from “synergy” and “democracy”. When issues are addressed with synocratic principles, conflicting issues will be resolved in our educational system.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

There is a popular saying that no nation can rise above its level of education, if Nigeria wants to achieve greatness, and if she wants to build a solid foundation for her children, it is time to seek for appropriate solution to her existing problem.

It is a well known fact that Nigerian’s education suffers functional stagnation because of the static and passive method of administration in formal education. The Nigerian education negates and neglects those for whom the curriculum is meant for. There is always over concentration on the educator, the teacher instead of the students is always fixed at the centre of the curriculum. This research work seeks to inform people on how “Synocracy” can be used to address the problems in Nigerian system of education.
