ABSTRACT

The study was aimed at assessing economic operations of multinational corporations in Kaduna from 1999-2018. The survey research was used in this study to sample the opinion of respondents. This method involved random selection of respondent who were administered with questionnaires. The target population of the study comprised staff of selected multinational firms in Kaduna state. The questionnaire administered was one hundred and ten (110) copies and one hundred copies retrieved which constitute the sample size. The descriptive and analytical approach was adopted using Chi-square to test and analyze the hypotheses earlier stated. The findings revealed that there is a significant effect of foreign investment on Multinational Corporation on Nigeria’s economy and that there is a significant relationship between foreign investment and economic operations of Multinational Corporation on Nigeria’s economy. It was therefore concluded from the findings that Multinational corporations serve as the engine-room for promoting economic growth and development in an economy through foreign direct investment. It was recommended that Federal government should ensure that multinational corporations plough back part of their profits to the development of the host communities in other to established good working relationship.

In recent years, Multinational Corporations (MNCs) have extended their presence all over the world, conducting various activities for different purposes. These enterprises have had to manage the various complex cultures, demographic differences, product, market and technological forces in the expansion process that interact and become more complex. The MNCs have emerged as powerful actors of the international business environment and their emergence inevitably emphasizes that an important way to go global is to develop strategies to effectively manage and control business organisations, and manage practices amidst others in the different countries that they exist. As a result of global increase in the number and influence of multinational enterprises, since the early 1990s, there has been a growing interest in international business
