Background Of  The Study

Childrearing practices in many traditional settings persist to date despite advancement and developments reforming best child practices to enhance the all-around development and well- being of children who in turn affect the exhibited behavior and community at large. This many traditional practices is face with challenges of povertyin the rural area and lack of social amenity, healthcare and proper education.

Childrearing practices are embedded in the cultural and determine to a large extent the behavior and expectation of the child. Where best practices are centerit leads to anti-social behavior which leads to social exclusion of the child. A situation which is involuntary exclusion of individual and groups from societies, political economic, and society processes which prevent the full participation in the society in which they live. Social inclusion is intended to combat poverty and social exclusion. The process of social inclusion is intended to create a society for all the achievement of social inclusion require that with both poverty and social inclusion be addressed in a balanced way, except Atkenson .A. marlier.E.”analysis, and measuringsocial inclusion in a global context”.

 

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Childbearing practices consist of practice which guarantees a child physical well-being mental development psycho-social well-being and physical development. Best childrearing practices exist in our modern setting to produce the overall well-being and development of the child; this is as a result of economic political and social changes. However best practice is fail with challenges in the rural areas due to poverty lack of social amenities, health care and lack of adequate education. The result effect is the display of anti- social behavior which leads to social exclusion.However the process of combat poverty and social exclusion leads to social inclusion to integrate the children to society well-being. Therefore the problem confronting this research is to investigate childrearing practices,social inclusion and behavior manifestation among rural children in Benue and plateau state.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

  1. To determine the nature of childrearing practices.
  2. To provide a conceptual and descriptive appraisal of social inclusion.
  3. To investigate the concept of behavior and behavior manifestation.
  4. To determine childrearing practices and social inclusion and behavior manifestation among rural children in Benue and plateau state.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

  1. This shall provide a framework of best childrearing practices.
  2. It advice the concept of behavior and provides a framework of study on behavior reformation.
  3. It shall provide a critical appraisal of social inclusion in a means of combating poverty and anti- social behavior.
  4. The study shall serve in the point of reference in child rearing practices, social inclusion manifestation.
  5. It shall provide a framework of childrearing practices in rural area.

STATEMENT OF HYPOTHESES

Ho childrearing practices do not have a positive effect on rural children in Benue and plateau state.  

Ho the nature of childrearing in Benue and plateaustate is insignificant

Ho social inclusion does not have significant impact on positive behavior manifestation of rural children in Benue and plateau state.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The study centered on childrearing practice of social inclusion and behavior manifestation among rural children in Benue and plateau state.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Definition of childrearing practice.

Childrearing consist of practice, which are grounded in cultural pattern and belief or simply caregiver have a set of practices available to them derive from cultural pattern ideas of what should be done and constitute the acceptance practices or norms. This practice include activities which guarantee the child physical well-being , providing shelter and clothing ,preventing illness , promotes the child psycho-social well-being , provide emotional security , socialization nurturing and giving affection , support the child physical development , mental development and social interaction .
