ABSTRACT
The study examined legislation and implementation of educational policies in Lagos State tertiary institutions. Descriptive research design was used. A questionnaire titled ‘Legislation and Implementation of educational policies in Lagos State Tertiary institutions’ (LIEPLSTI) was developed and administered for data collection, on a sample of 100 administrative staff randomly selected out of 180 administrative staff from the three selected institutions. Four research questions were formulated and analyzed using simple percentage method and chi square test to determine the level of implementation of these educational policies formulated by the legislative arm of government.
Findings revealed that Lagos State legislative arm of government is responsible for formulation of educational policies for tertiary institutions in the state. It was recommended that the Lagos State Legislative body should extend their actions to such other areas as provision of good road network, teaching facilities, transportation facilities and more lecture rooms. Both the legislative arm of government and the school administrators were required to ensure mutual co-operation with each other, and the legislature should ensure adequate implementation of the enacted laws.
